Niōmon Gate Illuminated: Capturing the serene glow and the gentle dance of cherry blossoms at Gumyoji Temple, Yokohama. Long exposure enhances the evening ambiance and the blur of nobori flags.
This shot was taken at a nearly 90-degree angle from atop a small hill using a telephoto zoom lens at a focal length of 98 for a less cluttered scene, simple subject, good balance, and overall sharp focus.
At the northern end of Shirahama Beach in Shizuoka, Japan, lies Daimyojin-Iwa (roughly translated to “rock of deity with extraordinary spiritual powers). Atop Daimyoji Iwa stands a red torii gate facing the sea. The torii belongs to Ikona-hime-no-Mikotojinja Shrine, commonly known as Shirahama Shrine, the oldest Shinto shrine on the Izu Peninsula.
The former Jisho-in Otamaya mausoleum stands as a testament to Japanese history and architectural craftsmanship. Erected in 1652, this beautiful structure was commissioned by Princess Chiyo, the wife of Mitsumoto Tokugawa, a prominent feudal lord of the Owari Domain. It was built to honor her deceased mother, Ofuri-no-Kata, who was the wife of the third shogun, Iemitsu Tokugawa.
